Performing Arts & Dance Photography
My love for dance photography began when I was commissioned to photograph the UK Street Dance Championships, capturing iconic groups like Diversity and Flawless. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with documenting the performing arts —from stage productions and unit stills to backstage moments and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
Watching a dancer transform movement into emotion or an actor transport an audience into another world is something I never tire of capturing on camera. I am always left in awe at the skill performers have and the dedication to their craft that drives them. They live and breathe their chosen art and it is very special to be able to document that (because you really don’t want to see me dancing on a stage).
For nearly a decade, I’ve been the official photographer at the Brighton Fringe Festival, where I photograph everything from street performances and cabaret in the Spiegeltent to immersive theatre productions. Just like the audience, I never know what to expect next, and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting!
